FORECAST 16-SEP-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER IS IN STORE FOR US STARTING TODAY AS A WEAK LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES OFF THE COAST AND THEN INLAND. ON THURSDAY ANOTHER SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH OUR NORTH BRINGING WITH IT A COOLER AIRMASS. WHAT ALL THIS MEANS FOR US IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED AFTERNOON AND EVENING CONVECTION OVER THE MOUNTAINS TODAY. THEN COOLER TEMPERATURES WITH GUSTY WINDS WEDNESDAY AND PARTICULARLY THURSDAY IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. THOSE TEMPS STAY SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL THROUGH THE WEEKEND THEN WE CAN EXPECT A SLIGHT WARM UP INTO THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN.

DUE TO THE POSSIBLE MIX OF WET AND DRY THUNDERSTORMS, A FIRE WEATHER WATCH WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR MONO COUNTY LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE THIS EVENING.
