FORECAST 15-SEP-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

MONDAY, 15-SEP-08, 7:10 AM

MONDAY WILL BE ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, WITH SUNNY SKIES, WARM TEMPERATURES AND MILD BREEZES. TOMORROW WILL BRING WITH IT A SLIGHT CHANGE IN THE WEATHER WITH THE BEGINNING OF A COOLING TREND BROUGHT ON BY AN UPPER LEVEL LOW APPROACHING THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST. ALONG WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES, THERE WILL BE ENOUGH INSTABILITY WITH THIS LOW TO GIVE THE HIGH COUNTRY A SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY NIGHT. AS THAT SYSTEM PUSHES THROUGH, AN ONGOING CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS EXISTS INTO WEDNESDAY PARTICULARLY FOR THE MONO COUNTRY HIGH COUNTRY. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO RUN SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL INTO THE WEEKEND THEN RECOVER TO ABOUT NORMAL SUNDAY INTO THE FIRST PART OF NEXT WEEK.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 92 FOLLOWED BY OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE UPPER 40S. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 9 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 91 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE UPPER 40S. SOUTH WIND 7 - 11 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 72 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 42. SOUTH WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES. 20% CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 71 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 41. SOUTH WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 77 - 87 AND EVENING LOWS 32 - 42. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 76 - 86 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS 33 - 43. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
