FORECAST 04-SEP-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

THURSDAY, 04-SEP-08, 7:01 AM

TEMPERATURES WILL RUN A FEW DEGREES WARMER TODAY AS THAT UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS OFF THE WEST COAST. I EXPECT OUR SLIGHT WARMING TREND TO CONTINUE INTO THE WEEKEND WITH FAIR SKIES. GREAT EARLY SEPTEMBER WEATHER! THEN A CLOSED LOW OFF THE WEST COAST EXPANDS EASTWARD ON MONDAY, WEAKENING THAT HIGH PRESSURE AND CREATING SOME CLOUD COVER OVER THE CREST. THIS WILL GIVE US A SLIGHT COOLING TREND INTO TUESDAY. WITH THAT TROUGHS PASSAGE, TEMPERATURES SHOULD REMAIN AT OF JUST BELOW NORMAL WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY OF NEXT WEEK.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 94 FOLLOWED BY OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 9 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY AND A BIT WARMER. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 96 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. SOUTHEAST WIND 7 - 11 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 74 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 42. WEST WIND 5 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 76 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 43. NORTHEAST WIND 5 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 78 - 88 AND EVENING LOWS 32 - 42. NORTHWEST WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 79 - 89 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS 33 - 43. NORTH WIND 10 MPH.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
