FORECAST 02-SEP-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

TUESDAY, 02-SEP-08, 6:50 AM

GENERALLY CLEAR SKIES AND GRADUALLY WARMING TEMPERATURES THROUGH END OF WEEK AS HIGH PRESSURE STRENGTHENS OVER THE AREA. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL BY THE WEEKEND. I DON'T BELIEVE AT THIS TIME HOWEVER THAT THE RIDGE WILL BE STRONG ENOUGH TO DRIVE TEMPERATURES TO THE CENTURY MARK IN THE OWENS VALLEY. AND FURTHER, THE POSSIBILITY OF A WEAK UPPER LOW OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST NEXT MONDAY AND TUESDAY COULD DRAW IN SOME MID LEVEL MOISTURE AND COOL THINGS DOWN A BIT. WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE ON THIS.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 90 FOLLOWED BY OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE UPPER 40S. SOUTHEAST WIND 6 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 93 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 11 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 70 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 40. SOUTH WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 73 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 44. WEST WIND 5 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 73 - 83 AND EVENING LOWS 31 - 41. SOUTH WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 77 - 87 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS 34 - 44. LIGHT WIND BECOMING WEST 10 MPH.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME
