FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

THURSDAY, 28-AUG-08, 6:55 AM

CONTINUED WARMING TREND TODAY AND FRIDAY AS THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OVER CENTRAL CALIFORNIA STAYS IN PLACE. THAT RIDGE WILL START TO WEAKEN ON SATURDAY AS A DEEP TROUGH OUT OF THE GULF OF ALASKA DROPS SOUTH AND THEN INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THUS WE SHOULD SEE A NOTICEABLE COOLING TREND FROM TOMORROWS HIGHS BY MONDAY, WITH TEMPERATURES DROPPING AS MUCH AS 10 DEGREES. WITH THAT TROUGH, COMES THE POSSIBILITY OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS STARTING AS EARLY AS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND WORKING INTO SATURDAY. ADVISORY LEVEL WINDS ARE A REAL POTENTIAL FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY LATE SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY AS THAT TROUGH MOVES THROUGH. STAY TUNED FOR MORE UPDATES.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 101 FOLLOWED BY OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. NORTHWEST WIND 4 - 7 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY AND CONTINUED HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 102 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. SOUTHEAST WIND 6 - 9 MPH BECOMING NORTHWEST.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES. DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 80 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 49. NORTH WIND 5 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 20%. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 81 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 51. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 83 - 93 AND EVENING LOWS 43 - 53. NORTH WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY SKIES IN THE AM BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 85 - 95 AND OVERNIGHT LOWS 44 - 54. WEST WIND 10 MPH.
