FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER

TUESDAY, 19-AUG-08, 7:01 AM

A STRONG AND FAST MOVING MID AUGUST STORM SYSTEM WILL PUSH THROUGH THE PAC NW TODAY CREATING GUSTING WINDS, SOME MID LEVEL CLOUDS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES IN OUR FORECAST AREA. WINDS WILL NOT REACH ADVISORY LEVELS, NONE THE LESS, IT WILL BE BREEZY THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY. ANOTHER TROUGH MOVES THROUGH THE PAC NW ON THURSDAY PROVIDING US WITH CONTINUED BREEZY CONDITIONS AND NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES. THIS COOLER SPILL WILL BE SHORT LIVED THOUGH AS HIGH PRESSURE REBUILDS OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST ON FRIDAY AND EXPANDS WESTWARD THIS WEEKEND. TEMPERATURES COULD REACH THE CENTURY MARK ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY IN THE OWENS VALLEY. AND RIGHT NOW, THERE IS NO SIGN OF THE RETURN OF THE MONSOON THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR 95 FOLLOWED BY OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE MID 50S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 -15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE MID 90S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE MID 50S. NORTHWEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: GENERALLY CLEAR SKIES WITH SOME TRANSIENT HIGH CLOUDS. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 68 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 45. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 20.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE AROUND 74 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 48. WEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: PARTLY CLOUDY TO MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 72 - 82 AND EVENING LOWS WILL BE 39 - 49. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 35 WITH RIDGE TOP GUSTS TO 50.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 77 - 86 AND EVENING LOWS WILL BE 41 - 51. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH IN THE EVENING BECOMING LIGHT.
