FORECAST 14-AUG-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

THURSDAY, 14-AUG-08, 7:09 AM

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL FURTHER AMPLIFY TODAY KEEPING TEMPERATURES ON THE WARM SIDE. SHOULD BE IN FACT A DEGREE OR TWO ABOVE YESTERDAYS HIGHS. LITTLE CHANGE IN OUR WEATHER ON FRIDAY THEN TEMPERATURES WILL START TO TREND SLIGHTLY DOWNWARDS OVER THE WEEKEND AND INTO NEXT WEEK AS AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH MOVES THROUGH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY, WILL SEE SOME MARGINAL MONSOON MOISTURE DRIFTING NORTHWARD FROM A SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW AND THAT SETS UP A VERY SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE UPPER ELEVATIONS, PARTICULARLY IN MONO COUNTY.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES AND HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 101 AND EVENING LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. SOUTHEAST WIND 6 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND CONTINUED HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 101 AND EVENING LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. NORTH WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 83 EVENING LOWS AROUND 51. WEST WIND 5 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AGAIN THEN BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 82 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 52. WEST WIND 5 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 87 - 97 AND EVENING LOWS 44 - 54. EAST WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 87 - 97 AND EVENING LOWS 45 - 55. EAST WIND 10 MPH.
