FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY

WEDNESDAY, 30-JUL-08, 7:09 AM

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL DOMINATE OUR AREA INTO AT LEAST FRIDAY. WE CAN EXPECT A SLIGHT WARMING TREND UNTIL THEN GIVING US HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WITH ZEPHYR TYPE BREEZES EACH AFTERNOON. SOME INCREASE IN MID LEVEL MOISTURE WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF CIRRUS CLOUDS, PARTICULARLY IN THE MONO COUNTY HIGH COUNTRY; BUT NO T-STORM ACTION IS EXPECTED. SMOKE FROM THE VARIOUS WILD FIRES WILL CONTINUE TO EFFECT US DEPENDING ON THE WIND DIRECTION AND FIRE FLARE UPS.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES WITH AREAS OF SMOKE AND HAZE. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 99 AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTH WIND 6 - 16 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AND HOT AGAIN. SMOKE AND HAZE CONTINUING TO LINGER IN THE VALLEY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 100 AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTH WIND 11 - 14 MPH GUSTING TO 20.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY WITH WIDESPREAD HAZE AND SMOKE. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 77 EVENING LOWS AROUND 47. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH AREAS OF HAZE AND SMOKE. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 78 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 48. WEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY WITH SMOKE AND HAZE. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 81 - 91 AND EVENING LOWS 40 - 50. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY WITH SOME AREAS OF HAZE THROUGH OUR THE DAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 82 - 92 AND EVENING LOWS 41 - 51. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH.
