FORECAST 23-JUL-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

NICE CLEAR BLUE SKIES WITH LIGHT WINDS ARE IN STORE FOR US AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS BACK INTO CALIFORNIA. TEMPS TO RAISE JUST A BIT EACH DAY THROUGH FRIDAY. ITS POSSIBLE BY FRIDAY THAT SOME WEAK INSTABILITY WILL RETURN TO THE MOUNTAINS, SO I HAVE INCLUDED IN THE FORECAST A SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON T-STORMS FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY STARTING ON FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE HOW THIS PANS OUT. OTHERWISE, HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL FOR THE VALLEYS AND THE HIGH COUNTRY UNTIL FRIDAY WITH SLIGHT COOLING OVER THE WEEKEND.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES AND HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S (NEAR 99) AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTHEAST WIND 6 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES AND CONTINUED HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 100 AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 8 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 76 EVENING LOWS AROUND 47. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES ONCE AGAIN. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 79 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 48. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 82 - 92 AND EVENING LOWS 40 - 50. LIGHT WIND BECOMING WEST WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: CONTINUED SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 83 - 93 AND EVENING LOWS 41 - 51. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 MPH BECOMING LIGHT LATER IN THE EVENING.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
