FORECAST 22-JUL-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

TUESDAY, 22-JUL-08, 7:09 AM

THAT UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WHICH WAS POSITIONED OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST HAS MOVED FARTHER WEST, GIVING US DRIER AIR AND CLEARING SKIES FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WE CAN EXPECT A MILD WARMING TREND INTO THURSDAY FOR BOTH THE HIGH COUNTRY AND THE VALLEYS. THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM DOLLY, IN THE WESTERN GULF OF MEXICO, COULD BRING MOIST AIR BACK TO US AS EARLY AS FRIDAY THEN INTO THE WEEKEND, IF IT GETS PULLED ACROSS OUR AREA BY A SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW. WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE ITS PROGRESSION. SO AS OF NOW, THERE WILL BE CONTINUED DRY CONDITIONS IN THE VALLEYS THROUGH THE WEEKEND WITH JUST A SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON T-STORMS IN MONO COUNTY HIGH COUNTRY.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES AND HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S (NEAR 97) AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTHEAST WIND 8 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES AND CONTINUED HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S (AROUND 99) AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTHEAST WIND 6 - 9 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 76 EVENING LOWS AROUND 48. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES ONCE AGAIN. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 79 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 48. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 79 - 89 AND EVENING LOWS 39 - 49. WEST WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: CONTINUED SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 82 - 92 AND EVENING LOWS 41 - 51. WEST WIND 10 MPH BECOMING LIGHT LATER IN THE EVENING.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
