FORECAST 02-JUL-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

WEDNESDAY, 02-JUL-08, 7:10 AM

I EXPECT HAZY CONDITIONS TO CONTINUE TO EFFECT US FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS A WESTERLY FLOW BRINGS SMOKE INTO OUR AREA. THERE WILL BE MARGINAL INSTABILITY OVER THE HIGH COUNTRY WITH AFTERNOON CUMULUS BUILDUPS AND A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. OTHERWISE FAIRLY STATUS QUO WEATHER FOR US AS THE FOUR CORNERS RIDGE STAYS IN PLACE BUTTRESSED BY AN UPPER TROUGH OFF THE WEST COAST. TEMPS SHOULD REACH THE CENTURY MARK IN THE OWENS VALLEY TODAY OR TOMORROW.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH AREAS OF CONTINUED SMOKE AND HAZE. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S/LOW 100S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE MID 50S. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY AND HOT WITH TEMPS NEAR THE CENTURY MARK. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S/LOW 100S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTHWEST WIND 7 - 11 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH WIDESPREAD AREAS OF SMOKE. SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED T-STORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 78 EVENING LOWS AROUND 47. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: PARTLY SUNNY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 77 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 48. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: PARTLY SUNNY BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY AND HAZY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF T-STORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 80 - 90 AND EVENING LOWS 42 - 52. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. SLIGHT CHANCE OF AFTERNOON T-STORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 80 - 90 AND EVENING LOWS 44 - 55. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
