FORECAST 19-JUN-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
BROADCASTING ON KSRW 92.5 / 96.5 FM AND TV-33

THURSDAY, 19-JUN-08, 7:06 AM

VERY LITTLE CHANGE IN OUR TEMPERATURE PATTERN INTO AT LEAST FRIDAY AS THE STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE STRENGTHENS A BIT OVER CALIFORNIA AND THE DESERT SOUTHWEST. THIS HAS RESULTED IN A VERY DRY AIRMASS WITH LOW HUMIDITY LEVELS AND INCREASING SOUTHWEST WINDS IN THE AFTERNOON. THIS WEEKEND LOOKS ABOUT THE SAME WITH SLIGHT COOLING EXPECTED ON SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY AS THE RIDGE WEAKENS IN RESPONSE TO AN EASTERN PACIFIC LOW MOVING THROUGH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THIS WILL BRING ON THE SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTROMS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY IN THE AFTERNOON IN THE HIGH COUNTRY.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE MID 50S. SOUTHWEST WIND 6 - 11 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY AND HOT. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE MID 50S. SOUTHWEST WIND 8 -15 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 75 EVENING LOWS AROUND 48. WEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS TO 25.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 76 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 52. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 30.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 77 - 87 EVENING LOWS 36 - 46. WEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 30.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 78 - 88 AND EVENING LOWS 39 -49. WEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 30.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
