FORECAST 09-JUN-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

IT GOING TO BE A VERY NICE DAY TODAY IN THE EASTERN SIERRA AS HIGH PRESSURE HAS BUILT IN GIVING US WARM TEMPS, LIGHT WINDS AND CLEAR SKIES. HOWEVER, ANOTHER COOL DOWN IS EXPECTED STARTING LATE TUESDAY WITH WINDY CONDITIONS RETURNING AS YET ANOTHER STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DIVES DOWN INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THOSE WINDS WILL BE ESPECIALLY PREVALENT OVER THE WIND PRONE MONO COUNTY HIGH COUNTRY. ON WEDNESDAY, IT LOOKS COOLER AS WELL AS THAT PACIFIC NORTHWEST SYSTEM MOVES SLOWLY EAST. STARTING ON THURSDAY WINDS WILL QUIET DOWN AND TEMPS WILL WARM UP THROUGH THE WEEKEND AS HIGH PRESSURE REBUILDS ACROSS THE REGION.

TODAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 90S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 80S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE LOWER 50S. NORTHWEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH INCREASING TO 15 - 25 LATER IN THE DAY.

TODAY FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 68 EVENING LOWS AROUND 47. WEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 65 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 39. NORTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 30.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: CLEAR SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 73 - 83 AND EVENING LOWS 40 - 50. LIGHT WIND BECOMING WEST 10 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 30 LATER TONIGHT.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 69 - 79 AND EVENING LOWS 34 -44. WEST WIND 10 - 20 MPH BECOMING 15 - 25 GUSTING TO 40 THEN DECREASING TO 10 - 15 LATER IN THE EVENING.

NOTE: DENNIS' FORECAST ORIGINATES FROM THE FORT INDEPENDENCE EPA METEOROLOGICAL STATION. BECAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS VARY GREATLY FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, THIS FORECAST IS FOR A SPECIFIC AREA AND TIME FRAME.
