FORECAST 28-APR-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
BROADCASTING FOUR TIMES A DAY ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

MONDAY, 28-APR-08, 7:00 AM

HIGH PRESSURE MONDAY WILL PROVIDE US WITH ANOTHER DAY OF ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES, THEN AN UPPER LOW SPINNING OUT OF THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL WEAKEN THAT RIDGE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS LOWERING TEMPERATURES AND INCREASING THE ON SHORE SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENTS. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY WILL THEN SEE COOLER TEMPS AND INCREASED WINDS AS THAT LOW PUSHES INLAND. A WIND ADVISORY IS EXPECTED FOR MONO COUNTY ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON INTO WEDNESDAY. THIS LOW DOES NOT HAVE MUCH MOISTURE SO I DON'T EXPECT MUCH PRECIPITATION EXCEPT FOR A FEW SHOWERS IN THE MONO COUNTY HIGH COUNTRY. THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY WILL SEE THE RIDGE REBUILD WITH DRY CONDITIONS AND WARMING TEMPERATURES.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: PARTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 80S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE MID 40S. LIGHT WIND BECOMING SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY AND BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 80S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE LOWER 40S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH INCREASING TO 15 - 20 GUSTING TO 30.
