FORECAST 08-APR-08

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
BROADCASTING FOUR TIMES A DAY ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

TUESDAY, 08-APR-08, 7:01 AM

A FAIRLY DRY, WEAK SHORTWAVEIS ON THE MOVE TOWARDS THE EASTERN SIERRA. NOT MUCH MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS THING, BUT I CAN'T RULE OUT SOME ISOLATED SNOW SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING AND INTO WEDNESDAY IN THE HIGH COUNTRY AND SCATTERED RAIN SHOWERS IN THE VALLEYS. THE WINDS WILL PICK UP AS THE SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING INTO TOMORROW. THE SYSTEM MOVES EAST WEDNESDAY AS A VERY LARGE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE SHIFTS INLAND PROVIDING US WITH CLEAR DAY TIME AND EVENING SKIES AND WARMING TEMPERATURES THROUGH SUNDAY. REALLY BEAUTIFUL WEATHER FOR THIS WEEKEND!

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: PARTLY SUNNY SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SCATTERED RAIN THIS EVENING. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 60S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE MID 30S. NORTHEAST WIND INCREASING TO 15 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 25.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 60S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE MID 30S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 25.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 35 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 19. WEST WIND 10 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 30.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES: PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 40 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 24. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 41 - 50 AND EVENING LOWS 15 - 25. SOUTHWEST WIND 15 - 25 MPH GUSTING TO 30 WITH RIDGE TOP GUSTS TO 55.

TOMORROW FOR MONO COUNTY: PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 44 - 54 AND EVENING LOWS 18 -28. NORTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH WITH SOME RIDGE TOP GUSTS TO 65.
