FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, MONO COUNTY AND MAMMOTH

TO START WITH HERE ARE SOME TOTALS FOR LAST WEEKS SERIES OF STORMS: SATURDAY HAD THE HIGHEST MAXIMUM WIND GUST AND FORT INDEPENDENCE RECEIVED A MAX @ 57.9 MPH; FOLLOWED BY LONE PINE @ 51.7 AND THEN BISHOP @ 46. 1; MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN TOTALED OUT AT 58 INCHES OF NEW SNOW FOR THE PERIOD 19 -FEB THRU 23-FEB. NOW ON TO THE FORECAST, THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SIERRA WITH HEAVY SNOW, HAS MOVED RAPIDLY EASTWARD TODAY, REPLACED BY A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE. THIS LEAVES CLEARING SKIES IN MOST AREAS AND THE START OF A GRADUAL WARMING TREND THRU THE END OF THE WEEK. THE POTENTIAL FOR FREEZING FOG WILL DEVELOP TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW MORNING IN SOME PRONE MONO VALLEY AREAS. THE WEEKEND LOOKS TO BE A BIT UNSETTLED AS A TROUGH POTENTIALLY MOVES THROUGH. RIGHT NOW FORECAST MODELS HAVE YET TO PIN THIS DOWN SO STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 57 AND EVENING LOWS NEAR 29. NORTHWEST WIND 8 - 11 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 63 AND EVENING LOWS NEAR 31. NORTHWEST WIND 5 - 8 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 35 IN TOWN AND 44 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. EVENING LOWS RANGING FROM 7 - 17. NORTHWEST WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: SUNNY WITH AREAS OF FREEZING IN SOME MONO VALLEYS IN THE MORNING. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 37 IN TOWN AND 46 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. EVENING LOWS RANGING FROM 9 - 19. LIGHT WIND.
