We decided to brave the storm yesterday and hike some peaks at the southern end of the Sierras near Jawbone. The goal was to hike Chuckwalla and Cross in preparation for a group hike taking up there next month. The conditions were light rain to hail with winds ranging from 5mph to gusts of 40mph on some of the ridgeline. With the blowing rain I decided to leave my camera in the truck - too expensive to subject to those conditions(good call I believe). The blowing hail felt like sandpaper across the face and we decided to hike Chuckwalla only.

Meanwhile over on Mt. San Jacinto it seems like the rescuers have their hands full as several people needed rescue from conditions on Saturday and continuing on into Sunday. The conditions up there while searching seem to best described as "horrendous". They are going back up today to continue to look for one of the local ladies who never returned to her car on Saturday. Prayers for her and the rescue teams out trying to bring her home.
