FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

WARMER TEMPERATURES TODAY AND TOMORROW IN RESPONSE TO A STRENGTHENING RIDGE OVER CENTRAL CALIFORNIA. TEMPS TO MOVE UP AS MUCH AS 15 DEGREES IN SOME PLACES DURING THE DAY TODAY. WINDY CONDITIONS TO CONTINUE THROUGH OUT THE HIGH COUNTRY TODAY AND TOMORROW.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY AND WARMER. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 60S. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE LOW TO MID 20S. LIGHT WIND BECOMING NORTHWEST 5 - 8 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 60S. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE LOW TO MID 20S. NORTHWEST WIND 7 - 11 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY SUNNY BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 48 FOR THE TOWN AND 59 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 22 - 28. BREEZY CONDITIONS WITH A WEST WIND 10 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 30.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: PARTLY SUNNY BECOMING MOSTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 48 FOR THE TOWN AND THE 60 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 18 - 25. WINDY WITH A WEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 30 AND RIDGE TOP GUSTS TO 60.

ON WEDNESDAY THE RIDGE WEAKENS AS A DRY SHORTWAVE MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. THEN ON THURSDAY, A COLD PACIFIC STORM MOVES ACROSS THE AREA AND LINGERS THROUGH SUNDAY. THERE IS PLENTY OF MOISTURE CONTAINED WITHIN THIS SYSTEM AND IF MODELS ARE RIGHT, I EXPECT A GOOD CHANCE OF SNOW IN MAMMOTH AND THE HIGH COUNTRY THURSDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY AND A CHANCE OF RAIN IN THE OWENS VALLEY FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY. THINGS ALWAYS CHANGE HERE IN THE EASTERN SIERRA, SO UPDATES TO FOLLOW.
