WEATHER FORECAST 11/01/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

A STABLE WEATHER PATTERN IS IN STORE FOR US THROUGH THE WEEKEND. A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE IS BUILDING IN LEAVING US WITH DRY CONDITIONS AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES. THE FLOW WILL REMAIN FROM THE NORTHEAST AND OVERNIGHT INVERSIONS WILL KEEP THE MONO VALLEYS QUITE COOL WITH NIGHTTIME TEMPS DROPPING DOWN TO NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 70S AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 35. LIGHT WIND BECOMING NORTHWEST AT 10 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: CLEAR SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 70S AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 35. NORTHEAST WIND 5 - 8 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: SOME PATCHY LOW CLOUDS IN THE MORNING BECOMING SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 47 FOR THE TOWN AND 58 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 25 - 38. NORTHEAST WIND 5 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: SUNNY SKIES ONCE AGAIN. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 45 FOR THE TOWN AND 56 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 27 - 36. NORTHEAST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

OUR AREA WILL CONTINUE TO BE UNDER A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WITH A POSITIVE PNA PATTERN CONTINUING THROUGH MID WEEK. IN GENERAL, STRONG INVERSIONS WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP THE MONO VALLEYS BELOW NORMAL WHILE THE HIGH COUNTRY WILL EXPERIENCE TEMPERATURES SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH AT LEAST TUESDAY. RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE A PATTERN CHANGE MAY HAPPEN SOMETIME AFTER NOV 10. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES!
