POINT FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

AN UPPER LOW MOVED RAPIDLY EASTWARD OVER THE WEEKEND BRINGING WITH IT A FETCH OF TROPICAL MOISTURE INTO OUR AREA ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. THE OWENS VALLEY PICKED UP SOME ISOLATED SHOWERS SATURDAY NIGHT AND MAMMOTH HAD ICE PELLET AND RAIN SHOWERS ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON. ANOTHER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS HEADED OUR WAY TODAY INCREASING THE CHANCE OF ISOLATED SHOWERS FOR OUR AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THEN AN ADDITIONAL LOW DROPS OUT OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AFFECTING OUR AREA ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS WITH THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY ARE POSSIBLE IN THE HIGH COUNTRY FROM THESE SYSTEMS.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY CLOUDY. 30% CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 70 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 37. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: PARTLY SUNNY SKIES BECOMING MOSTLY CLOUDY. 20% CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 71 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 37. NORTHWEST WIND 7 -11 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. POSSIBLE THUNDERSTORMS AND SCATTERED RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS LIKELY THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. THERE WILL BE A 60% CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION. SNOW LEVEL DOWN TO 8,500 FEET THIS EVENING. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 53 FOR THE TOWN AND 65 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 32 - 41. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. RAIN SHOWERS DURING THE DAY AND SNOW SHOWERS IN THE EVENING. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 30%. SNOW LEVEL DROPPING TO 7,500 FEET LATE. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 52 FOR THE TOWN AND 64 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 31 - 40. WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

FLAT RIDGING STARTS TO BUILD IN ON WEDNESDAY WITH SHOWER ACTIVITY ENDING. THEN ON THURSDAY A HIGHER AMPLITUDE RIDGE DEVELOPS INTO THE WEEKEND. THIS SPELLS CLEAR CONDITIONS AND DRY WEATHER THROUGH SUNDAY.
