WEATHER FORECAST 10/26/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
BROADCASTING ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

LAST UPDATE: 7:51 AM PDT OCT 26, 2007

AS MENTIONED IN YESTERDAYS FORECAST, SMOKE FROM THE FIRES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DID INDEED FILTER UP INTO THE SOUTHERN OWENS VALLEY EARLY THIS MORNING. DAYTIME MIXING WILL HELP DISSIPATE THE SMOKE SOMEWHAT BUT WITH AN INCREASE IN THE SOUTHERLY FLOW TODAY, SOME SMOKE WILL AGAIN MOVE UP INTO OUR AREA. THE CLOSED LOW OFF THE WEST COAST HAS MOVED INLAND A BIT AND WILL CREATE PARTLY CLOUDY CONDITIONS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES IN THE HIGH COUNTRY ON SATURDAY. OTHERWISE QUIET WEATHER WITH DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 79 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 36. SOUTHEAST WIND TO ABOUT 6 - 9 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 76 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 35. EAST WIND 5 - 8 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 59 FOR THE TOWN AND 71 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 30 - 41. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 60 FOR THE TOWN AND 70 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 33 - 40. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 MPH.

ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY WE WILL HAVE A CONTINUATION OF DRY CONDITIONS AND WARM TEMPERATURES. ON TUESDAY THE CLOSED LOW OFF THE WEST COAST FINALLY LIFTS OUT AND NORTH EASTWARD PRODUCING SOME CLOUDS IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. AND FOR NOW, THE REST OF THE WEEK LOOKS DRY WITH TEMPERATURES RUNNING SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL.
