WEATHER FORECAST 10/25/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

POINT FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
BROADCASTING ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

LAST UPDATE: 7:43 AM PDT OCT 25, 2007

OUR LARGE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE IS SHIFTING SLIGHTLY TO THE EAST AS A CLOSED LOW FORMS WELL OFF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
COAST. THE MAIN AFFECT OF THIS PROCESS IS A SHIFT IN THE WINDS TO THE SOUTH/SOUTHEAST. THERE IS A VERY SLIGHT POSSIBILITY THAT SOME SMOKE FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MAY AFFECT OUR AREA BECAUSE OF THIS. COOLING FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS WILL BE LIMITED AS THAT LOW DOES IN FACT STAY OFF SHORE AND NOT MOVE DOWN THE COAST. SO, COOLER TEMPERATURES ON FRIDAY WITH DRY WEATHER, BREEZY CONDITIONS AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES WILL PREVAIL.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 83 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 37. SOUTHEAST WIND TO ABOUT 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 79 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 35. SOUTHEAST WIND 3 - 7 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: CLEAR SKIES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 70 FOR THE TOWN AND 81 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 32 - 39. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES AND A BIT BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 60 FOR THE TOWN AND 70 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 26 - 37. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 20 MPH.

TEMPERATURES WILL RISE A BIT ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AS THE RIDGE REBUILDS, GIVING US DRY CONDITIONS WITH SOME HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS. AND RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS DRY THROUGH HALLOWEEN.
