THE LOW AMPLITUDE RIDGE THAT'S BEEN GIVING US NICE FALL WEATHER IS NOW MOVING EAST AS A VERY STRONG, FAST HITTING STORM SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA LATER TODAY. MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION WILL STAY TO OUR NORTH BUT LIGHT AMOUNTS SHOULD FALL IN MONO COUNTY FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING. THE BIGGER ISSUE IS THE WINDS AND THERE IS A HIGH WIND WARNING FOR MONO COUNTY FROM 3PM TODAY UNTIL 5PM SATURDAY. THERE IS ALSO A HIGH WIND WATCH FOR THE OWENS VALLEY SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING. THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SIERRA COULD PICK UP AS MUCH AS 2 - 4 INCHES OF SNOW BEFORE THIS SYSTEM RUNS ITS COURSE.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 75 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 39. NORTHEAST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 72 AND LOW TEMPERATURES AROUND 35. NORTHWEST WIND 8 - 18 MPH GUSTING TO 29.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: PARTLY SUNNY AND WINDY BECOMING MOSTLY CLOUDY AND VERY WINDY. 70% CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS LATE IN THE EVENING. SNOW LEVEL LOWERING TO 8,500 FEET AFTER 11 PM. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 56 FOR THE TOWN AND 67 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 28 - 38. SOUTHWEST WIND 15 -20 GUSTING TO 35 INCREASING TO 20 - 35 GUSTING TO 60 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SOUTHWEST WIND GUSTING TO 100 MPH OVER THE CREST TONIGHT.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH LAKES AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF MORNING SHOWERS WITH SNOW LEVEL DROPPING DOWN TO 7,500 FEET. SKIES BECOMING MOSTLY CLEAR LATER IN THE DAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 41 FOR THE TOWN AND 52 FOR THE VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 21 - 33. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 35 BECOMING NORTH 10 -15 GUSTING TO 30 IN THE EVENING.

A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN OVER THE WEST COAST ON SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY GIVING US BEAUTIFUL WARM, DRY INDIAN SUMMER CONDITIONS. THE OWENS VALLEY COULD SEE TEMPERATURES RISE TO THE LOW 80S BY WEDNESDAY AND MAMMOTH THE MID TO UPPER 60S.
