WEATHER FORECAST 10/08/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

BROADCASTING ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

LAST UPDATE: 8:21 AM PDT OCT 08, 2007

A VERY NICE DAY WILL BE IN STORE FOR US TODAY, THEN A POWERFUL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MAKES IT WAY INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING BRINGING WITH IT WINDY CONDITIONS TO THE HIGH COUNTRY AND THE VALLEYS. I DON'T EXPECT MUCH MOISTURE TO MAKE ITS WAY DOWN INTO OUR AREA, BUT STILL THERE WILL BE A VERY SLIGHT CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION IN NORTHERN MONO COUNTY LATE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 75 AND LOWS IN THE MID 30S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 -15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY AND BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 75. LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 30S. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 20 GUSTING TO 30.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND THE MONO VALLEYS: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 62 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE LOW 70S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 25 - 35. SOUTH WIND TO 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY SUNNY BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY AND WINDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 61 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE LOWER 70S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 24 - 34. SOUTH WIND 15 - 25 MPH GUSTING TO 45 WITH RIDGE TOP GUSTS UP TO 70.

A PERSISTENT PATTERN OF STORM ACTIVITY OUT OF THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL CONTINUE TO SEND DISTURBANCES INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WITH ANOTHER ONE BRUSHING OUR AREA STARTING ON FRIDAY NIGHT. THERE WILL BE A 20% CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY. A WEAK RIDGE WILL CLEAR THINGS OUT LATE SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY BEFORE ANOTHER TROUGH WILL AFFECT OUR AREA EARLY NEXT WEEK.
