WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

WIND ADVISORY TODAY AT NOON FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND A HIGH WIND WARNING FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM THIS EVENING FOR MONO COUNTY AND THE HIGH COUNTRY, AS AN UNSEASONABLY STRONG PACIFIC STORM RIDES OVER OREGON THIS MORNING THEN BRUSHES OUR AREA LATER TODAY. AS THAT TROUGH MOVES THROUGH, WINDS WILL DECREASE A BIT, BUT MOISTURE WILL PICK UP, GIVING THE HIGH COUNTRY A CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS LATER THIS EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL PLUMMET TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY BY AT LEAST 10 -15 DEGREES AND WILL NOT RECOVER UNTIL SUNDAY. TREKKERS AND CLIMBERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR COLD, WINDY AND WET WEATHER LATER TODAY THROUGH AT LEAST SATURDAY NIGHT IN THE HIGH COUNTRY AND UPPER ELEVATIONS.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY CLEAR BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY AND WINDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 79 AND LOWS IN THE LOWER 40S. SOUTHEAST WIND 20 - 24 MPH GUSTING TO 36.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: PARTLY SUNNY AND BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 63. LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 30S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 BECOMING 5- 10 LATER IN THE EVENING.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES BECOMING MOSTLY CLOUDY AND WINDY. ISOLATED SNOW SHOWERS LATE IN THE EVENING. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 55 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE MID 60S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 26 - 36. WEST WIND 25 - 30 WITH SOME GUSTS TO 60 MPH. GUSTS OVER THE CREST TO 100 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH A 40% CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 39 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE UPPER 40S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 19 - 29. NORTH WIND 10 -15 MPH.

SOME RIDGING WILL BUILD IN ON SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY BRINGING A WARMING TREND AND CLEARING SKIES. THEN THE NEXT STORM MOVES THROUGH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST ON WEDNESDAY AND RIGHT NOW IT LOOKS LIKE MOST OF THE ENERGY WILL REMAIN NORTH OF MONO COUNTY. HOWEVER, HIGH WINDS ARE EXPECTED ONCE AGAIN IN THE HIGH COUNTRY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY BEFORE ANOTHER STRONG FRONT BRUSHES OUR AREA ON FRIDAY.
