WEATHER FORECAST 09/17/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY BLUE SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW TO MID 80S. LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 40S. AFTERNOON WINDS FROM THE NORTHWEST @ 7 - 16 WITH GUSTS TO 23.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND THE MONO VALLEYS: MOSTLY SUNNY AND BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 64 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE MID 70S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 37 - 47. WINDS FROM THE WEST @ 5 - 10.

TOMORROW FOR MAMMOTH AND THE MONO VALLEYS: SUNNY SKIES AND WINDY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 67 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE MID/UPPER 70S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 38 - 48. WINDS FROM THE SOUTHWEST @ 15 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 30.

THEN, ON WEDNESDAY THE WEATHER PATTERN CHANGES AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DROPS DOWN FROM BRITISH COLUMBIA. FORECAST MODELS ARE STILL HAVING A HARD TIME WITH THE NORTH/SOUTH TRAJECTORY OF THIS SYSTEM. REGARDLESS, RIGHT NOW I WILL GO WITH MUCH COOLER CONDITIONS FOR BOTH THE HIGH COUNTRY AND THE VALLEYS BY WEDNESDAY INTO FRIDAY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION OR LIGHT SNOW IN THE UPPER ELEVATIONS ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. IN SOME AREAS GUSTY WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM, POSSIBILITY TO ADVISORY LEVELS. BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND UNSETTLED WEATHER WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND, THEN DRIER WARMER WEATHER BY MONDAY. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES AS THE LOW DEVELOPS.
