WEATHER FORECAST 09/07/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

NOT MUCH CHANGE IN OUR WEATHER THROUGH THE WEEKEND. CURRENT HIGH PRESSURE WILL HOLD AT LEAST THROUGH SUNDAY WITH DRY WEATHER, RELATIVELY LOW HUMIDITY AND LITTLE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURES. THE ONLY "FLY IN THE OINTMENT" IS A SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW THAT MAY BRING SOME CUMULUS OVER THE HIGH COUNTRY ON SATURDAY GIVING A SLIGHT POSSIBILITY OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM ACTION. LIGHT HAZE/SMOKE WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT PARTS OF OUR AREA FROM THE "MOONLIGHT" FIRE IN PLUMAS COUNTY WITH IS NOW ONLY 8% CONTAINED.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW/MID 90S. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 50 - 59. LIGHT WIND.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY CLEAR. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 90S. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 51 - 61. SOUTH WIND 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 75 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE MID 80S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 40 - 50. WEST WIND 10 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: SUNNY SKIES IN THE MORNING BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY IN THE AFTERNOON WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 76 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE MID/UPPER 80S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 41 - 52. WEST WIND 10 MPH.

ON MONDAY THE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL EXPAND WESTWARD THROUGH THE WEEK, GIVING US A VERY SLIGHT WARMING TREND WITH MINIMAL CLOUD COVER AND FAIRLY LIGHT WINDS.
