WEATHER FORECAST 09/04/07 UPDATE

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA
PROVIDED BY DENNIS MATTINSON
EASTERN SIERRA WEATHER FORECASTER
BROADCASTING ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

LAST UPDATE: 2:01 PM PDT SEP 04, 2007

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL TRACK ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST TODAY AND THEN SLOWLY ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN TOMORROW. THIS LOW WILL BRING INCREASED SOUTHWEST WINDS TO OUR AREA TODAY AND BRING DOWN TEMPERATURES STARTING TOMORROW. TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY BE FEW DEGREES COOLER TODAY THEN MORE SUBSTANTIAL COOLING TOMORROW. THE COOLER, DRIER AIR WILL LIMIT THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY OVER THE HIGH COUNTRY. HENRIETTE IS STILL FORECAST TO BE PUSHED INTO ARIZONA AND POINTS EAST OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS WITH LITTLE IMPACT TO OUR WEATHER.

TONIGHT FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 52 - 63. SOUTHWEST WIND 15 - 20 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MAINLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 90S. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 51 - 61. NORTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TONIGHT FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: MOSTLY CLEAR WITH BREEZY CONDITIONS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 38 - 47. SOUTHWEST WIND 15 - 25 MPH GUSTING TO AS MUCH AS 60 OVER THE RIDGE TOPS.

TOMORROW FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: MOSTLY CLEAR. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 75 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE MID 80S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 40 - 50. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 MPH.

HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN ON THURSDAY AS THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WEAKENS AND CONTINUES TO MOVE EASTWARD. AS OF NOW, NEXT WEEKEND WILL SEE A CONTINUATION OF DRY WEATHER WITH SOME CUMULUS OVER THE CREST AND MINIMAL THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT.
