WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

LAST UPDATE: 2:40 PM PDT AUG 29, 2007

HOT WEATHER WILL BE IN STORE FOR THE OWENS VALLEY FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AS A VERY STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE EXPANDS WESTWARD OVER OUR AREA. SOME MOISTURE WILL REMAIN TRAPPED UNDER THAT HIGH AND WILL GET RECIRCULATED EACH DAY LEADING TO ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY IN THE HIGH COUNTRY AND OVER THE MOUNTAINS IN THE AFTERNOONS AND EVENINGS.

THIS EVENING FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE OF T-STORMS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 57 - 63. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.


TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES EARLY TURNING PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORM ACTION OVER THE CREST. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 99. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 58 - 64. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

THIS EVENING FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 30% CHANCE OF AFTERNOON & EVENING THUNDERSTOMS. SOME ISOLATED T-STORMS MAY PRODUCE HEAVY RAIN AND HIGH WIND GUSTS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 46 - 56. WEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: PARTLY CLOUDY TURNING MOSTLY CLOUDY IN THE AFTERNOON WITH A 30% CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 80 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE LOW 90S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 47 - 58. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

THE FLOW ALOFT WILL TURN MORE SOUTHWESTERLY ON FRIDAY LIMITING T-STORM ACTIVITY. ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE THROUGH LABOR DAY. SO, FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, FAIR WEATHER WITH DRY AND VERY WARM CONDITIONS PREVAILING FOR THE VALLEYS AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES WITH DRY CONDITIONS AND DAYTIME TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 80S FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY.
