WEATHER FORECAST 08/24/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

WEAK HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES OVER OUR AREA BRINGING WITH IT VERY WARM TEMPERATURES. DRY WEATHER AND ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TODAY AND TOMORROW WITH A SLIGHT COOL DOWN SUNDAY AS MID AND HIGH LEVEL CLOUD COVER INCREASES OVER THE AREA.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 101. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 54 - 63. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AGAIN. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 100. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 56 - 62. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH BECOMING LIGHT LATER IN THE EVENING.

TODAY FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: SUNNY IN THE MORNING BECOMING PARTLY SUNNY IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 83 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND THE LOW 90S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 45 - 55. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 15 MPH.

TOMORROW FOR THE MAMMOTH AREA: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 84 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND MID 90S FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 44 - 53. SOUTHWEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH GUSTING TO 20.

A SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST FLOW DEVELOPS ON SUNDAY BRINGING WITH IT SOME MOIST AIR AND IT LOOKS LIKE A 10 - 20% CHANCE OF T-STORM ACTION OVER THE HIGH COUNTRY AND THE OWENS VALLEY SUNDAY INTO WEDNESDAY. WITH ALL OF THIS, ISOLATED SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE AND SLIGHT COOLING IS EXPECTED THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THEN TEMPERATURES BEGIN TO REALLY REBOUND ON THURSDAY AS AN UPPER HIGH RE-ESTABLISHES ITSELF OVER OUR AREA. I EXPECT TEMPS TO BE WELL ABOVE NORMAL BY NEXT WEEKEND.
