WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPS FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, PARTICULARLY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, AS MONSOON MOISTURE RIDES IN ON A SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW FROM CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN NV. THIS MOISTURE WILL BE SLOW TO MOVE OUT OF THE AREA AND THE HIGH COUNTRY COULD SEE PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN AS THUNDERSTORM ACTION PICKS UP TODAY INTO TOMORROW. THERE IS A 30% CHANCE OF T-STORM ACTIVITY TODAY IN THE HIGH COUNTRY AND A 20% CHANCE TOMORROW.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY AS THE DAY PROGRESSES WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SCATTERED T-STORMS AND SHOWERS PRIMARILY OVER THE MOUNTAINS. POSSIBLE RAIN SHOWERS MAKING IT TO THE VALLEY FLOOR. HIGH TEMPERATURES NEAR 97 AND EVENING LOWS AROUND 63. LIGHT WIND BECOMING WESTERLY TO 5 MPH.

THURSDAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 98 AND LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. SOUTHWEST WEST WIND 5 - 10 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: PARTLY CLOUDY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 30% CHANCE OF SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS. ISOLATED HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 80 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 92 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 47 - 57. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH IN THE EVENING.

THURSDAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: PARTLY CLOUDY BECOMING MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE OF SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 80 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 90 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 45 - 55. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH IN THE EVENING.

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH PUSHES INTO THE PAC NW STARTING ON FRIDAY GIVING OUR AREA A DRIER SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW AND FEW DEGREES OF COOLING THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THIS TROUGH WILL BREAK DOWN THE RIDGE THAT BROUGHT US THE EARLY WEEK HIGH TEMPERATURES AND THE COOLING WILL BE MOST PROMINENT BY SUNDAY INTO TUESDAY. BY WEDNESDAY WE WILL SEE A RETURN TO MORE SEASONAL TEMPS.
