WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

LAST UPDATE: 7:56 AM PDT JUL 19, 2007

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OFF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST WILL GRADUALLY WEAKEN TODAY INTO FRIDAY AS THE FOUR CORNERS HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE BEGINS TO EXPAND WESTWARD. THIS WILL GIVE US A GRADUAL WARMING TREND. CONDITIONS AND TEMPS SHOULD BE SIMILAR TODAY AS YESTERDAY WITH A REDUCTION OF WINDS.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 100 AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS TO 30.

FRIDAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTH WIND 10 - 15 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS TO 25.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 72 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 81 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 40 - 50. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 -15 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS TO 20.

FRIDAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 78 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 87 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 42 - 52. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS TO 25.

A GRADUAL WARM UP CONTINUES INTO THE WEEKEND AND THROUGH MID NEXT WEEK. THERE WILL BE A STRONG SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT AND THIS ALONG WITH AN INVERTED TROUGH DOWN IN TEXAS MOVING WESTWARD, COULD USER IN SOME MONSOON MOISTURE BY AS EARLY AS SUNDAY. TIMING IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE, BUT ISOLATED T-STORM ACTIVITY IS POSSIBLE OVER THE HIGH COUNTRY SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. OTHERWISE, DRY CONDITIONS IN THE OWENS VALLEY WITH TEMPS AT OR NEAR NORMAL THROUGH THE PERIOD.
