WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

LAST UPDATE: 7:26 AM PDT JUL 17, 2007

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OFF THE NORTHWEST US COAST WILL BRING SOME CHANGES TO OUR AREA OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. IT WILL REMAIN IN PLACE WITH SOME SHORTWAVE IMPULSES ROTATING INLAND AND THIS WILL GIVE THE HIGH COUNTRY A SLIGHT COOL DOWN THROUGH THURSDAY. TEMPERATURES SHOULD LOWER BY SEVERAL DEGREES IN MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA. FOR THE OWENS VALLEY, CONTINUED WARM TEMPS AND SOME GUSTY AFTERNOON WINDS WILL BE IN ORDER.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. SOUTH WIND 10 - 20 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON WITH SOME GUSTS TO 30.

WEDNESDAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S. NORTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: SUNNY SKIES. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 78 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 88 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 40 - 50. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH IN THE EVENING.

WEDNESDAY FOR MAMMOTH AND SURROUNDING AREA: MOSTLY SUNNY AND BREEZY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 75 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 85 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 39 - 49. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 20 MPH GUSTING TO 40 IN THE EVENING.

BY FRIDAY THINGS BEGIN TO WARM UP SLIGHTLY FOR THE HIGH COUNTRY. THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF SOME MID LEVEL MOISTURE PULLING UP FROM NORTHERN MEXICO, GIVING US A CHANCE OF T-STORM ACTIVITY OVER THE MOUNTAINS ON THE WEEKEND. WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE ON THIS. DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF CLOUD COVER, TEMPERATURES SHOULD REMAIN AT OR JUST ABOVE NORMAL ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY FOR THE OWENS VALLEY.
