WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE OWENS VALLEY AND MAMMOTH AREA

BROADCASTING ON THE SIERRAWAVE 92.5 / 96.5 FM

AN UPPER LEVEL LOW OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST WILL SLOWLY MOVE OUT OF THE AREA TODAY AND TOMORROW, GIVING THE OWENS VALLEY A RETURN TO WARMER TEMPERATURES AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES BY THURSDAY. MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY CAN EXPECT A CONTINUATION OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY TODAY AND TOMORROW AS THAT LOW DRIFTS NORTH. AS CELLS PASS THROUGH THE MONO COUNTY AREA, PERIODS OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN ARE POSSIBLE, THUS A FLASH FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR TODAY.

TODAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: PARTLY SUNNY WITH A CHANCE OF SCATTERED THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY OVER THE MOUNTAINS MID DAY THROUGH THE EVENING. HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 90S AND EVENING LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 MPH.

THURSDAY FOR BISHOP AND THE OWENS VALLEY: MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES WITH A MUCH REDUCED CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 101 AND LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S. SOUTH WIND 10 -15 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.

TODAY FOR MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY: MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY THROUGH OUT THE DAY AND EVENING. THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY FOR PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN AND LIGHTNING. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 40%. GUSTY WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH CELL DEVELOPMENT VERY LIKELY. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 78 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 88 FOR THE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 42 - 52. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH GUSTING TO 30 IN THE EVENING.

THURSDAY FOR MAMMOTH AND MONO COUNTY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 83 FOR THE MAIN LODGE AND 93 FOR THOSE MONO VALLEYS. LOW TEMPERATURE RANGE 45 - 55. SOUTHWEST WIND 10 - 15 MPH.

THERE WILL BE A CONTINUING CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY, WITH RE-CIRCULATED MOIST AIR, IN THE HIGH COUNTRY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. IT WILL BE MOSTLY CLEAR FOR THE OWENS VALLEY WITH A GRADUAL WARMING TREND THROUGH SUNDAY.
