A very large ridge of high pressure over the Great Basin and the Southwestern US is still affecting our area, with temperatures projected in some areas of the Owens Valley today to reach 108 degrees. The valley floor at Yosemite recorded temps of 109 and El Portal 110 yesterday. Today should be the warmest day of the week with +2-3 degree increase over yesterday with record high temperatures a real possibility in many areas. Death Valley will see temps around 125 today. Slight cooling will happen on Friday.

The ridge will finally begin to weaken on Saturday in response to an upper level trough moving through the Pacific Northwest. Temps will be cooler through next week, but still above normal.
