Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

A very large ridge of high pressure will slowly move over our area and intensify, bringing very high temperatures to the Owens Valley and the High Country. Temperatures for the Valley will reach near 105 today and tomorrow, while Mammoth and the High Country will see highs near the mid 80s.

Tuesday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies. Daytime high temperatures around 105 again and evening lows in the upper 50s. Light wind.

Today for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Mostly sunny and breezy. High temperature range low 80s for the Main Lodge and low 90s for the Mono Valleys. Low temperature range 40 - 50. Southwest wind 10 - 15 mph with some gusts of 30 in the afternoon.

Tuesday for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Mostly sunny. High temperature range around 84 for the Main Lodge and 94 for the Mono Valleys. Low temperature range 43 - 53. Northwest wind 10 mph.

The heat wave will continue through the rest of the week, with the hottest temps mostly likely coming on Thursday and Friday. So, Mammoth will see temps in the upper 80s and the Owens Valley in the mid to upper 100s by weeks end. Humidity levels will also continue to remain quite low through the week. There is still a slight chance of high based isolated thunderstorm activity beginning on or about Independence Day. Right now, it looks like a gradual weakening the ridge over the weekend with temps starting to show a slow decline.
