Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Local Eastern Sierra Weather Forecaster
Broadcasting for the Sierra Wave 92.5 / 96.5 FM

A ridge of high pressure will hold over our area today and this will continue the warm temperatures we have been experiencing. However, an approaching low pressure system, moving into the Pacific Northwest, will flatten the ridge bringing a bit of relief over the weekend with slightly cooler temps and breezy conditions. The strongest winds will occur on Saturday afternoon. The air mass will remain dry and with the gusty winds and low humidity, this will create critical fire weather conditions through at least Saturday afternoon.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies. Daytime high temperatures around 100 and evening lows in the upper 50s. South wind 05 - 10 gusting to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies again and breezy. Daytime high temperatures in the upper 90s and evening lows in the upper 50s. Southwest wind 10 - 20 mph with possible gusts to 30 in the afternoon.

Today for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Sunny blue skies. High temperature range upper 70s for the Main Lodge and upper 80s for the Mono Valleys. Low temperature range 40 - 50. Southwest wind 10 - 20 with some gusts to 35 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Mostly sunny and breezy. High temperature range low 70s for the Main Lodge and low 80s for the Mono Valleys. Low temperature range 37 - 47. Southwest wind 15 - 25 with gusts near 40 mph in the afternoon.

Temperatures start to rebound Monday into Wednesday as the flat ridge amplifies. Slight cooling will occur on Thursday as another Pacific trough slowly eastward into the Pacific Northwest.
