show me your dog!

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Love this thread! Here is my dog Chopper, a 7yo golden retriever. We have been hiking together since he was born. I'm very jealous of his natural coat that protects him well from the blood-suckers.

Happy to discover this non profit site! Next to my family Backpacking in high Alpine solitude is the only way to live. This is my first post to experiment with and happy to do it with 2 of my faithful hiking companions: Diesel and Ollie..

Welcome Born to Hike, Diesel and Ollie,

You have discovered 2 great sites-- HST and the Wind River Range!
Do you know The Winds well? I reckon it is the very best of the U.S. Rockies, and dog-friendly too!
We loved our trip over Jackass Pass and down to Cirque of the Towers, which we had to ourselves in the early spring.
We look forward to your dog trips, Bearzy and Ian.

This is Clyde Dog. We have only had him for about 7 months, his age is 15 months, and he's just about ready for his 1st over night adventure! :drinkers:

Is Clyde Dog checking out Lake Winnemucca?

Pretty soon you will have to get him fitted with a dog pack.

I thought about getting him a pack but in reality he doesn't eat much or need much so I will just carry his gear and not spend the $80 or whatever for a pack. Since he is a little guy I won't be taking him on big missions anyway so I can carry a little extra weight.

Jeff- My favorite part of the whole shutdown nonsense was going to NV beach every week and having it empty. Sand Harbor was nice too but not empty like NV Beach
