New Merced River Stamp

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

New Merced River Stamp

Post by maverick »

Yosemite NP:
Letter-writers, bill-payers, and snail mail devotees can now celebrate Yosemite's free-flowing rivers with a new US Postal Service stamp! The Merced River, which carries a torrent of fresh snowmelt from the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada down to the San Joaquin Valley thousands of feet below, is one of twelve Wild and Scenic Rivers featured on a 2019 sheet of stamps. Each river pictured (along with parts of almost 200 others, including the Tuolumne River) is protected by the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act for its outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values, to be kept in a free-flowing condition for the enjoyment of present and future generations.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Have a safer backcountry experience by using the HST ReConn Form 2.0, named after Larry Conn, a HST member: http://reconn.org
