Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Local Eastern Sierra Weather Forecaster
Broadcasting for the Sierra Wave 92.5 / 96.5 FM

Dry conditions will remain over the Owens valley through the weekend, but a weak upper low near the California coast may have enough moisture and dynamics to create the possibility of isolated showers and thunderstorms over the High Country Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening. Warming trend will continue into Saturday.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly sunny. Daytime high temperatures in the lower 80s and evening lows in the lower 40s. Light wind.

Saturday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies. Daytime high temperatures in the upper 80s and evening lows in the mid 40s. Light wind.

Today for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Sunny blue skies becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. High temperature range mid 60s for the Main Lodge and mid 70s for the Mono Valleys. Low temperature range 34 - 44. West wind 10 mph.

Saturday for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Partly cloudy skies with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. High temperature range low 70s for the Main Lodge and low 80s for the Mono Valleys. Low temperature range 36 - 46. Light wind to 10 mph in the evening.

I expect a few degrees of cooling on Sunday and Monday as that weak upper low swings through our area. Otherwise dry conditions and slightly warming temperatures will prevail for the Owens Valley and the High Country through the rest of the week.
