New Member Here
Greetings to all, I am new here. I've been reading your forums the last couple of weeks and just registered. I'm a real amateur compared to what I read about most of you but I am learning a lot.
I've been living in Bakersfield, California for the last 15 years. Although it's relatively close to the Sierras I'm not sure if its worth it. It is hot here (but a dry heat!). Anyway, I was a regular backpacker 25 years ago (I'm 52 now) but work took me away and I drifted from it. I got the bug again last year but managed only a couple of trips out of Black Rock TH into the Golden Trout Wilderness. I've been accumulating additional gear over the winter and spring and am getting the urge to take some Sierra trips. I just retired my external frame Kelty Tioga. Yikes.
Just thought I'd say hello and that I enjoy eavesdropping on your discussion.

Welcome Morse!
I'm pretty much a green horn here, myself. But I really encourage you to give it a go! I just turned 50 last Nov. and did my first solo trip this last weekend. I came home with plenty of aches, but can't wait to get out again and build on the difficulty. And as you've probably noticed, a really great bunch of people here!

Welcome, Morse!
