Weather Forecast 5/22/07

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

A dry northwest flow over our area will keep temperatures a bit below normal today and Wednesday. I also expect humidity levels to drop down the single digits. Otherwise fair skies will prevail. Wind speeds should also taper off a little today. Yesterday Bishop received a maximum wind gust of 29.4 and Fort Independence 36.6 mph.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies will prevail. Daytime temps in the lower 80s and evening lows in the mid 40s. North wind 10 - 20 in the afternoon and evening.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny. Daytime temps in the lower 80s and evening lows in the mid 40s. North wind 10 - 15 shifting to the southeast after midnight.

Today for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Sunny blue skies. High temperature range 57 - 67 and lows 25 - 35. Northeast wind 10 - 15 mph in the afternoon and evening.

Tomorrow for Mammoth & the Mono Valleys: Sunny skies in the morning becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. High temperature range 65 - 75 and lows 30 - 40. West wind 10 - 15 mph in the evening.

A weak trough will develop over central California on Thursday into Friday with a slight increase in cloud cover. Afternoon breezes will increase on Thursday. Slight warming will begin on Friday and Saturday as high pressure gradually builds over the area. Dry conditions are still expected through the holiday weekend.
