Eliminate wolves in Kalifornia?

Should we treat Canadian Wolves like a noxious weed and eliminate them in Kalifornia since they have migrated out of MT and ID? They are a introduced species sub species?, not the lineage that was killed to extinction back in the day. My reasoning on this is their killing or maiming of livestock, documented by Fish and Game. Happening up here in northeastern Kaliforniain the counties of Lassen and Plumas. I'd love to hear a wolf howling while on a bping trip, but not at the expense of my neighbors or the loss of my pup.

Locals in Lassen and Plumas areas have a wary 'wait and see' attitude. Not outright hostile against the wolves and not thrilled about them either.

Some bar talk that at least one has already been eliminated.

Think about how many millions of tax dollars have funded the wolf reintroduction starting around 1995.

Don't know, but personnel are continuously involved in their tracking etc. My SIL was working for the guvment in Denver back then and was involved in writing contracts for different projects, one of which was the one for introduction into Jellystone.

If all of the environmental groups would allow a balanced management program without screaming every time one was killed or removed OK. Otherwise non-native trout are getting removed all over the state. Better to stop it now before they spread.

The wolf cheering section is primarily the bay area and LA. If wolves were reintroduced to Golden Gate Park, Griffith Park, and the American River Parkway would their attitudes be the same?

To be fair, many environmental advocates also support protecting pumas, which DO absolutely live in or near urban areas. These are complicated issues, and it doesn't further the discussion to accuse others of not thinking them through.

It is possible fir reasonable people to disagree on these topics, and I always recommend a simple rule for these conversations: "Don't tell us what you think your opponents say or do--tell us what you think the solution is."

It's amazing how the conversation changes if you follow that simple rule.

Our deer population is quite out of control, and we either need to increase human predation or natural predation. In urban areas, human predation seems more likely, simply because it may be easier to control. In rural areas, natural predation may be a better solution.

I live in a relatively urban area, but spend most weekends at our cabin a block from the Stanislaus National Forest. The solutions need to different for those two environments.

Do you know what a hunting license and a deer tag costs? I do and it is exorbitant.
