Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley

A few snow showers remain over the High Country but should end this morning. The big story is the continued windy conditions, with a Wind Advisory still in place probably through Friday. Yesterday Mammoth picked up 3 inches of fresh powder. Other areas of the High Country picked up only trace amounts of snow. Maximum Wind gust recorded yesterday at Fort Independence was 52.1 mph.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly sunny skies, windy and cooler. Daytime temps in the mid 60s and evening lows in the mid 30s. North wind 10 - 15 with gusts of 30 mph in the afternoon.

Today for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Partly cloudy and breezy with rain and snow showers developing after midnight. Snow level 6,000 feet. Daytime temps 46 - 56 and evening lows 15 - 25. West wind 15 - 25 with gusts of 35 mph in the afternoon and 55 over the Crest. Wind should decrease a little after midnight.

Friday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly sunny skies. High temps in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 30s. Northwest wind 10 - 20 mph with gusts of 35 in the afternoon.

Friday for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Mostly cloudy and continued breezy. Chance of snow showers through out the day. Snow level 6,000 feet. High temperature range 45 - 55 and lows 16 - 26. West wind 15 - 25 with gusts of 40 mph in the afternoon.

Precipitation chances begin again tonight into Friday for the High Country. This incoming system is fairly weak and rain / snow will be light, but we will take what we can get. System shifts east on Saturday and a high amplitude ridge builds in giving us dry and warmer conditions through at least Monday and Tuesday.
