Lucky no one got injured or killed!

SEKI NP:
On Tuesday, January 9 at approximately 12:45 in the afternoon a Jeffrey Pine tree within Sequoia National Park fell, striking four vehicles parked in Lodgepole Market’s employee parking lot. There were no injuries to staff or visitors. The tree was approximately 150 feet tall and 38 inches in diameter.

Visitors are reminded to maintain situational awareness when hiking, camping, and traveling through Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and should avoid spending prolonged periods under dead or partly dead trees or branches.

A long time ago I was sitting, talking with friends at Woods Creek Junction in the wind. I heard a crack, looked up and saw a tree (old and dead) fall. Unfortunately the other people had their backs to the tree and didn't see it fall. They only heard the crack and noise when it hit the ground.
