Complete shocker: Cow pucky impacts water quality

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Complete shocker: Cow pucky impacts water quality

Post by mokelumnekid »

Recent journal article regarding water quality impacts in Stanislaus Nat'l Forest (Stanislaus and Mokelumne headwaters) from range activity, link here:

And it comes as no surprise that Nat'l Forest management has refused to enforce their own best practices guidelines regarding managing cattle. Lawsuit pending or in progress I understand. I hasten to add that it is well understood that grazing is an allowed activity under the Wilderness Act. But it must do so in light of manifest guidelines. Those guidelines are ignored despite clear and ongoing evidence of noncompliance.
