Sonora Pass Open

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Sonora Pass Open

Post by gdurkee »

Campers:

Good news. Sonora Pass opened a couple of days ago. Haven't heard anything about Tioga.

Thanks for the head's up George! Been keeping a watchful eye on Tioga Pass, hopefully for next weekend, but maybe Sonora could be the alternate.

Yeah, this latest series of storms has dropped a bit of the white stuff. Kinda odd hearing about chain controls over Mt Rose and Donner Pass in the first week of May! ;) South Lake Tahoe got around 3 inches when the latest storm first passed through.

Sunday edit: Looks like Ebbets Pass (Hwy 4) is still closed, and Monitor Pass has been re-closed, too!

No kidding. I drove up to the base of each near Markleville today and both Monitor and Ebbets were still closed...
