sketchbook 2017

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Among the other gear carried along on my summer backpack tour, also had some art stuff - good paper and various pens. Most non-hiking time was devoted to fishing but did find some time to sketch.

At the TM store, since it was a "short season" Aramark decided to only hire half the staff needed to make the store function smoothly. Thus, instead of the 4 ten-hour shifts worked in past seasons, this year we worked six days a week...sort of sucked. They finally got it together and 3/4 staffed the store just before Labor Day...(What rhymes with Clusterduck?)
Also interesting (sad really) Aramark would not let me hang any art inside of the TM store this year. Last year it was OK? Thus I put up various smaller art drawings on the outside - on the store bulletin board - changed it up every other day or so. Many were taken - (At first a bit miffed but now consider it a complement really that someone wanted my art) - but some not.
I give you a small taste of what remained - 2017 trail art.

You can spend a few hours trying to capture what is right in front of you.

Time becomes pretty hard to measure when you are working on this stuff, that's for sure!

Very nice work, gentlemen. Makes me wish that I had some sort of artistic ability.
Thanks for sharing.

And that has made all the difference.
