Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

The first of two systems that will effect our area today into the weekend has begun to spread light rain in the Valleys and snow showers in the High Country. Actual precipt amounts will probably be on the light side, but we will take it, considering the dismal year we have had.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly cloudy with 70% chance of rain showers. There will be a slight chance of thunderstorm activity. Daytime temps in the upper 50s and evening lows in the lower 30s. Southeast wind 10 mph.

Today for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Snow showers off/on through the day with possible thunderstorm activity. Snow level 7,000 feet dropping to 5,500 feet in the evening. Northwest wind 10 - 15 mph. High temperature range 40 -50 and evening lows 15 - 25.

Saturday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly sunny turning mostly cloudy late in the day. 20% chance of rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Southwest wind 10 mph. Daytime temperatures in the lower 60s and evening lows in the mid 30s.

Saturday for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Mostly cloudy with a good chance of snow in the afternoon/evening. Snow level 6,000 feet late. Southwest wind 15 - 20 gusting to 80 mph over the Crest. High temperature range 40 - 50 and evening lows 18 - 28.

The second system will give us a good chance of snow in the mountains and rain in the valleys Saturday night into Sunday. Unsettled weather on Monday as system exits our area. Then weak ridging builds in for fair and warmer weather Tuesday through Thursday.
