Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley

High Wind Warning today. Strong winds progged to continue, increasing later today. Things should subside this evening and overnight. Yesterday, Fort Independence had wind gusts of 51.0 mph, Bishop 33.8 mph, Lone Pine 40.8 mph, and Big Pine 33.0 mph. Mammoth Mountain squeaked out 6 inches of fresh powder. We will have gradually clearing skies today into this evening. Friday will see mostly clear and warmer conditions as short lived ridging builds in.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly sunny skies in the Valley with scattered snow showers in the Mountains off and on during the day. Clearing later in the evening. North wind 15 -20 mph with gusts of 35 - 45 mph in the afternoon. High temperatures in the upper 50s and evening temps in the lower 30s.

Today for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Partly cloudy and windy with a chance of scattered snow showers. Northwest wind 15 - 25 gusting to 35 in town and 60 mph over the Crest. High temperature range 35 - 45 and evening lows 10 - 20.

Friday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny and warmer with reduced wind speeds. Northwest wind 10 - 15 mph. Daytime temperatures in the lower 70s and evening lows in the mid 30s.

Friday for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Warmer with sunny skies. High temps 50 - 60 and evening lows 18 - 28. North wind 10 mph and gusting to 45 mph over the Crest later in the evening.

On Saturday into Sunday, another Pacific trough moves into our area with a chance of snow showers in the High Country and rain in Valleys. Thunderstorm activity is possible over the mountains. Clearing skies on Monday and Tuesday as upper ridging builds back in.
